Announcement: SACAU Policy Conference 2011: GMOs in Agricultural development - Perspectives of farmers in Southern Africa

The Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) will be holding its Annual Policy Conference. The theme will be of the conference will be on "GMOs in Agricultural development - perspectives of farmers in Southern Africa".
The Conference will be held on 16 - 17 May, in South Africa.
Various papers will be presented and discussed at the conference, and the topics covered will include:
  • GMOs in the context of Biotech in agriculture
  • pro-GMO perspectives
  • anti-GMO perspectives
  • market access/trade issues
  • consumer perspectives
  • existing policy frameworks
  • recent technological advances
Farmers in Southern Africa is expected to come up with key messages and position statements in response to the issues raised during the Conference.
